The Economics of Peacebuilding: Assessing the Cost and Effectiveness of Programming

In this article, Jack Farrell and Jessica Berns argue that the peacebuilding field needs to better understand the cost and effectiveness of our interventions. They discuss what (little) we know about the cost-effectiveness of different approaches to build peace in different contexts.  Such understanding, they argue, is vital to world peace, security, and the sustainability of our field: "Cost effective analysis is nascent in the peacebuilding field but holds potential for improving resource allocation and attracting more financial support for peace and conflict prevention efforts".

The "nascent link" above goes to a second article written by Steve Sheamer, Alexa Courtney, and Noah Sheinbaum of the Frontier Design Group.  It's title is Cost-Effectiveness for Peacebuilding:Exploring the Possibilities.
